Julie SUMMERS is the current Writing Fellow in St Hilda’s College.

In a live “apéro-interview” she will talk about her contribution to student life in the College. Julie will explain the Royal Literary Fund’s initiative for good writing practice, which places professional authors in Universities as a resource for students.

She will show from her recent experience how talking about writing and offering support can make a difference both to students’ presentations and to their life choices ; and touch on the effects of COVID for Oxford colleges.

She has promised to lead us in a brief practical exercise…

Julie is a bestselling nonfiction author, historian and broadcaster. Her work focuses on stories of ordinary people faced with extraordinary circumstances. She is passionate about writing and storytelling.

Before her publishing career, she worked in the arts as a curator and exhibition organiser at the Royal Academy, the Henry Moore Foundation and the Ashmolean museum.
